Akron Half

Well that is finished! I ran Akron Goodyear Half Marathon, followed by 10 more miles. The weather was chilly at the start of the race, but felt good. Can’t believe I had to wear a throw away blanket to the start. My friend and Half Fanatic Randy Riley found me before the start. This race usually has heat issues with runners, not this year. I thought I took it easy as I knew I still had 10 more miles to run after the race. I guess I didn’t take it easy. My slowest mile was 12:18. Akron race series sure knows how to put on a race. Plenty of water stations, Swenson’s burgers, ice cream, chocolate milk and beer at the finish!
I got home and changed my shirt, socks and shoes and headed out for a challenging 10 more miles. My legs were already feeling my half marathon and I took it slower. Got it done though! This was half marathon # 129.#medalmonday

Goodyear Half Marathon & 10k. A break in the temperature made for a beautiful morning to race. Every other year this race has been overwhelmingly sweltering. Today was wonderful. Always fun to watch the blimp continuously circling the race course. Only managed a 5th age group finish but there’s a personal satisfaction in taking off at the start line and running without stopping or walking until crossing the finish line 13.1 miles later. Laurie Weiner missed you at the finish. Lifetime Half Marathon #190. #medalmonday Half Fanatics 100 Half Marathons Club.
