October 11th Edition
Medal Monday brings many stories of achievement for our members. Here are 10 of them, as posted on the Marathon Maniacs/Half Fanatics Facebook pages.

Tim Mullican (MM7665)
Mo’ Bell ultra for me. I dropped down to the 50K due to my Achille’s tendonitis. We had a choice of running a 3 mile, mostly single-track trail, or a 1-mile cloverleaf loop, both of which were pretty hilly. The trail was in bad shape due to soil washing out, leaving a lot of roots and rocks in some places. After three loops of the trail and getting lost on my second loop, I stuck to the pavement.

Holly Abbott (HF897)
I completed the Munich Half Marathon (Germany) this past weekend! Started and finished in Olympic Stadium – great venue, very well organized (especially with COVID) and an overall fun event! Three continents down and four more to go! Love Half Fanatics!

Randy Riley (HF16432– DA3218–MM14470)
A Full Marathon today. 26.2 difficult miles. Prairie Fire Marathon in Wichita KS. The only thing that went right was a 1st place AG finish. My 26th Full.

Laurie Weiner (MM15681–DA3668– HF9266)
Today I qualify for Marathon Maniacs! Boston virtual completed at Towpath Marathon!

Dani Shown (MM8045 DA565–HF 4557)
Chicago Marathon and my third Abbott Star, done. Back to back weekends with London. Congrats to everyone who finished today!
Gregory Rouson (HF8068 — MM12723 –DA2354)
Lifetime half marathon #154, Baltimoron-a-thon (5K + Half) #5, and #KingCrabChallenge #4…DONE!!! This course is always hit or miss. The hills are challenging enough but the difficulty is compounded depending on weather conditions. I probably didn’t do myself any favors by going hard on the 5K 90 minutes before the half. The things I do for the bling.#HF8068#MM12723#DA2354

Carla Simon (MM14304–DA3133–HF13789)
Ran in the Hartford half marathon in Connecticut Saturday in 2 hours 36 minutes and then two days later I ran in the in person 125th Boston marathon (my first in person Boston and first if don’t count last year’s automatic virtual and finished the in person in 5 hours 31 minutes 38 seconds and qualified to use this Boston time as a BQ for either 2022 or 2023 as an athlete with disabilities so think am going to use it for 2023 as feel more confident I could afford to financially do it then again. 2022 I may try for New York City will see as it is the only World Major I have left to run in in US that haven’t ran in yet. Got two new states in on my journey to run halves or fulls in all 50 states which gets my count up to 17 states total. Plus now have ran in and finished 27 fulls/ultras with 18 of those being marathon finishes and 9 of them being ultra finishes. With the Hartford half marathon finish it marked my 75th lifetime half marathon finish too. Weather to me was great for both races.

Rosa Soto (HF14507)
I have the best friends! Completed the virtual boston and my friend showed up with costume and all for my celebration picture

John Colvard (MM13439)
Medal Monday. Doubles weekend with Hartford on Saturday & Boston today for states 42 & 43. The bonus today for me is I ran Boston on my 60th birthday!

Randy Woodward MM15271
Chicago marathon yesterday moved me halfway towards the goal of completing the Abbott World Marathon Majors.
Will I complete the three remaining marathons? It’s a nice bucket list idea.
For now let’s focus on the remaining eleven states needed to wrap up all fifty states.
