Medal Monday brings many stories of achievement for our members. Here are recent stories from the Marathon Maniacs and Half Fanatics, as told by you, as posted on the Marathon Maniacs/Half Fanatics Facebook pages.

Dani Shown – (MM8045, DA565, HF4557) – Completed Half 172 and State 32 of 50 States round 2 today at the last Mercedes Benz Birmingham Half. Trying to keep pace in check to let my bursitis in inner hip heal ahead of Boston. Did 3 extra miles to get to 16 long run distance. This was a nice, really well supported race. A few hills, but nothing steep. Had a Team RWB team group on course at mile 10. Great swag. Including a blanket, beanie and long sleeve shirt. Very nice people and the community really supported the race well. For any who missed out on this race, you did miss out. Great race for Alabama. Hope everyone enjoyed their finish line this weekend, whether racing or training!

Susan Davis (HF17429)- It’s an honor to run the finale of #mercedesbenzhalfmarathon this morning. Great medal, along with the towel and a pair of socks, the food and the hills kept me humble.

Stefanie Holliday (HF17422, DA3313, MM14386) -Well, I woke today not feeling 100%. I decided to hit start line anyway, just as the race started! Outside the cold and wind of 38 degrees and wind chill 27, it was a great day for the Mercedes Benz Birmingham Half-Marathon! I love the hills, and Birmingham (Mercedes-Benz Marathon Weekend) will always be a favorite! I’ve run the full before, but today, I ran the half and had so much fun, regardless of sinus infection! I finished 2:24:04-first half this year, age 53. I’m happy! Half #36. I have more fulls and ultras, but I’ve decided to start counting these awesome beauties!! 🏃🏻♀️

Charlene Mercer Board (HF7024) & Anita Burns (HF7613) – Mercedes-Benz Half Marathon ✔️ sad to see this race going away but we’ve done it twice so I’m happy we made the trip again🏃🏾♀️🏃🏾♀️🏃🏾♀️

Chris Strub (HF18714) –It’s the final Mercedes-Benz Marathon Weekend Half Marathon … state #27

Sandi Guglielmi (HF9218) – No medal but finished my 110th half at Timbuk Challenge Half Marathon in Granville, Ohio

Amy Seagroves (HF18410, DA3652, MM15648) – Finished Half #71 Publix Florida Half Marathon. This is a repeat state and race. I did this race in 2021 but didn’t get the full experience due to covid and thunderstorms. I decided to come back and do it again this year since it’s close to Orlando and has same day packet pick-up and I was looking for an excuse to go to EPCOT to go on the new Guardians of the Galaxy Ride. I flew into Orlando Friday evening, did Disney Saturday and then drove 1 hour to Melbourne for this race Sunday. The race is really nice with waterfront views for much of the race. It is flat except 2 bridges. There wasn’t a ton of spectators but there was a ton of musicians and aid stations. I had a pretty slow race due to sore feet from walking so much at Disney yesterday and a strong headwind the last mile and a half of the race but I still had a great time. Plus the medal is huge!

The Half Fanatics represent at the Mercedes-Benz Marathon Weekend moments ago!

Ronita Bland- (HF8514, DA2131, MM12368) –Didn’t let a little rain stop me from getting what I came for🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️

Sarita Kinney (MM15083) -Hilton Head Half marathon

Jan H. Steenkamp (MM9420, DA787, HF7811) – St Petersburg Distance Classic in St Petersburg, Florida. Jan Jan H. Steenkamp, Tania Diener and George Southgate (MM3240)

Olivia Medina (MM7842) – Enjoyed running in the rain this morning at the Hilton Head Marathon. Chatted with a few other maniacs along the course. I was quite the popular runner with my #1 bib. Spectators, runners, volunteers and a photographer cheered louder than normal as I passed by. The course was two out and back loops with a combination of pavement and muddy trail. The post race meal was superb, low country boil, which hit the spot after the cold wind and rain. Fun times!

Claire Gladstone (MM12421) – #medalmonday Icebreaker Marathon in Eisenhower Park. We get a picture with the medal, but they are then donated to Medals4Mettle – Long Island Chapter🫶
They repurpose these medals with ribbons of their own, and the medals are presented to critically ill children and adults who are true heroes and deserve a medal for what they have gone through!
This is a no frills race, 8 loop course, with an easy atmosphere, and good aid tables and volunteers! Great price, race in January in New York, and a charity component make this a winner!!

Emily Bucago (MM13045) – San Diego 50! Beautiful course, beautiful weather, amazing volunteers. A PR to boot. 🏃🏻♀️

Natalie Uyeno (MM15186, DA3505, HF17314) – Surf City Marathon . One of the rare times that I have done a full.

Randy Woodward (MM15271) – First marathon of the year.

Eddie Hahn (MM184) – A few Maniacs at Surf City Huntington Beach California today. Hank Donigan (MM8384) and Chris Thompson (MM1929)

Pascal Radley (MM2051) – Mercedes-Benz Marathon

Dasa Raghavan (MM13535) & Theodore Pravin @ Mississippi River Marathon

Hollie Ashby (MM10937, DA1165, HF4210) – Mesa Marathon-my 100th marathon

Sue Stevens (HF8593, DA2452, MM12891) – Had a glorious cold, crisp sunshiny morning for the My Better Half Marathon yesterday. Fun race and lots of friendly faces out there. Bonus was placing second in my age group.
(I think I’m firing my photographer aka better half husband, as he didn’t tell me I was holding my award sideways 🙂 )

Robert Manon (MM6700, DA431, HF3646) -Cupid Dash Half Marathon double this weekend. Great seeing many club members this weekend. 501st and 502nd lifetime half marathons. It was nice running half marathons again after 4 weeks off from that distance.
