Medal Monday brings many stories of achievement for our members. Here are recent stories from the Marathon Maniacs and Half Fanatics, as told by you, as posted on the Marathon Maniacs/Half Fanatics Facebook pages.
Ed Childress (MM10428, DA1019, HF9881) – Country Mile 48 Hour Run, April 8-10, 2022
Ultra Madness Family Earning Buckles
Kevin Costello Jr (MM15806) -A bit windy, but it was great to feel the ocean air while running along the coast! Took it easy on some of the bigger hills early on, and this seemed to help me get a negative split.
Marathon Maniacs at the Boston marathon
Claire Gladstone (MM12421) – That’s a wrap! #105, windy, hilly miles through Newport Rhode Island! Great fun running with Karen Murray (who always pushes me) Glen Anderson and a surprise visit in the beer tent from Sandee Landon❤️ I sure do love seeing my running friends on the road. 🏃🏽♂️🏃♀️
Mary Griffin (MM15631) -That’s a wrap! #105, windy, hilly miles through Newport Rhode Island! Great fun running with Karen Murray (who always pushes me) Glen Anderson and a surprise visit in the beer tent from Sandee Landon❤️ I sure do love seeing my running friends on the road. 🏃🏽♂️🏃♀️
Carla Simon (HF13789, DA3133, MM14304) – Ran in the Hippity Hop half marathon this morning. Was another great race put on by Startline as usual , got to see lots of people I know, the first 10 miles of the race went great for me didn’t have to really stop to walk, the last 3 got hot but wasn’t the only one out there that had to slow down, had to do run/walking at that point but still finished in around 2 hours 34 minutes to finish my 79th lifetime half marathon.
Maniacs and Fanatics at the Carmel Marathon
Michelle Cox (HF17353) -My first medal Monday as a grandma!! (Daughter had baby today!! WooHoo!)
Sat i ran the OmaHalf in Omaha Nebraska. It’s a very low key minimalist race. Nice shirt and always a good medal but no expo, no GU on the course, very few portas, not many cheering on course. The course is on a cement bike trail near a river. There is plenty of water on the course and I think at least one stop had Gatorade. The cost of the race is always very inexpensive which is always good! This year was much colder than last year, and the wind was just as strong or stronger so it wasn’t nearly as fun. Also the wind is always at your back on the way there and way back is just brutal!
Tricia Davis (HF18538) – It’s #medalmonday and I completed the B.A.A 5K in Boston Massachusetts on Saturday with my daughter Chavonne who loves unicorns and has always wanted to do this race. We tried for years to register for it, but this year the 🦄 magic sparkled our way. Great course and we were able to run across the iconic Boston Marathon finish line. How Awesome! #HF18538
Katie Applegate (HF18527) – I ran my first 50k! Mile 0 Flint Hills Trail Race in Osawatamie KS
Gregory Rouson ( HF8068, MM12723, DA2354) Lifetime half marathon #170 and Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Half Marathon #3…DONE!!! Don’t let the smile and #Roustance fool you; this course was BRUTAL. Just short of 2,000 ft of elevation gain! 😱 #HF8068 #MM12723 #DA2354
Jenene Johnson (HF13151) – Hi! Ran my 51st half marathon at Earth Day Run / St. Cloud, MN! 5K the day before too!
Samuel Lafaye (MM14775, DA3342, HF15562) – Completed a half marathon in the toughest road race in America, the Blue Ridge Half marathon in Roanoke, VA.
Fanatics & Maniacs at the Golden Driller Marathon & Half Marathon in Tulsa, OK
Jackie James(HF17621) Hi❤️🤗kicked off the morning with a downpour then pushed through the wind for 13.1 miles! 2 months 10 days post Miami injury. Thankfully still on the move. Enjoy your Saturday.
Melissa Thigpen (MM11161, DA1293, HF9945) – Half Marathon#52 done yesterday in Honolulu, Hawaii! Such a beauuuuuuutiful and humid (very humid) race! Good times!
Heather Broyles (HF18438) -Medal Monday from Rock the Parkway Half on Saturday in Kansas City, MO. Half #22 and 3rd one in 3 weekends. This was a big challenge after coming back from groin muscle injury (6 months of PT since I let the injury go too long. Yes, I learned my lesson) and my body held up! Each race I was approximately 5 minutes faster than the previous one. Thankfull for the love and support of my running friends and Half Fanatics members!
Lisa Wiedower (HF16948) – #medalmonday Half #41 #halffanatics
Hogeye Half, Springdale Arkansas, Hilly. You earn the right to wear this one! Would do it again tomorrow! Beautiful course and race! Here with my daughter! Grands make the best cheer squad! HF16948
