Tim Mullican–Pulse Endurance 48 hour Run

I had a good weekend at the Pulse Endurance 48 hour run at Eagle Island State Park near Boise, ID, albeit with cooler than normal weather. (45-50 degrees F). It was also somewhat wet weather with intermittent showers on Friday and Saturday, and a heavier downpour for about an hour just before daylight on Saturday. Despite all that, my feet and legs came through extremely well with just one small blister on the side of my big toe.

Unfortunately, I experienced painful chaffing at the end that caused me to stop before the end of 48 hours. Still, I ended up meeting my 100-mile goal with a total of 102.8 miles. I still craved more miles, but the chaffing became too much to bear despite repeated application of Glide. More excitement followed the race as there was a temporary shutdown of all flights at DIA as a result of tornadoes in the area, so I ran through the airport with my luggage to get to my connecting flight, only to find that they had a wait for the flight captains who were late coming in from another flight. It would have been nice if they had changed the flight status to delayed so I too could have had a leisurely walk through the airport.

I finished 9th out of 22 finishers.
