Happy Half Fanatics Anniversary Sina!
Sina Sco (HF15870) celebrates her anniversary as a Half Fanatic, which began during Super Bowl Weekend 2017. That year, she completed the Rock & Roll New Orleans marathon and qualified for Neptune status in Miami before achieving Mars status. Additionally, she reflects on her weight loss journey, which started after relocating to Texas. She emphasizes her commitment to fitness since that pivotal moment. Sina shares a recent photo from the Hot Chocolate 10K and mentions plans to run the Mesa Half Marathon soon.
Mississippi River Marathon Recap– New Finish, Vintage Carousel & Delta Delights!
Jennifer Clark shares her experience at the annual Mississippi River Marathon in Greenville, Mississippi. This local race features a full marathon starting in Arkansas and a half marathon across the bridge, both finishing in Greenville. This year, the finish line was moved to the E.E. Bass Cultural Arts Center due to changes in the course configuration. Clark enjoyed the new location, which allowed for socializing and a unique ride on a historic Merry-Go-Round. The event featured food and camaraderie with fellow runners, marking her 383rd half marathon.
Bridging States and Limits: Race Report from the Mississippi River Marathon
Gysel Parajon shares an exciting account of participating in the Mississippi River Marathon, marking his 36th state completed. Despite starting strong and running faster than planned, he faced GI issues and cramping that slowed his pace. Utilizing a run/walk method helped him complete the race, and he was pleased to meet his goal time of 6 hours. He expressed gratitude to volunteers, race organizers, and supporters, highlighting the memorable experience and the scenic bridge over the Mississippi as a race favorite.
Meet Club Member: Troy Hoffland
Troy Hoffland, who began running on April 9, 2024, transformed from a non-runner at 194 pounds to a passionate marathoner weighing 160 pounds. Inspired by a friend, he embraced running, aiming to compete in the historic Boston Marathon. After following a training plan and facing an injury, he secured a spot as a charity runner, raising over $15,400 for Fisher House. Troy has since participated in multiple marathons, achieving personal records and plans to run London in 2026, motivated and supported by a community of fellow runners.
Kicking Off 2026 Strong: State 47 Las Cruces Half Marathon
Sheri Fulton Camp completed her first race of the year at the State 47 Las Cruces Half Marathon, marking her 13th state in her third round and her 240th lifetime half marathon. The flat out-and-back course featured scenic views of pecan orchards and the Rio Grande River. Runners enjoyed a track finish, which was easier than gravel. After a weekend off, Sheri plans to participate in the RNR Arizona, which includes a 5k and a half marathon.
On the Road to 1000 Marathons; From Tropical Mumbai to Hamburg’s Icy Trails
Sivabalan Pandian, a 67-year-old marathoner, achieved remarkable feats in 2025, completing 119 full and ultra marathons across seven countries despite a chronic shoulder issue. In January 2026, he faced the challenge of running four marathons on snow and ice in Hamburg, Germany, with temperatures around -15°C. Despite the difficult conditions and new equipment, he finished each marathon in under 10 hours. Pandian encourages all runners to embrace challenges and prepare adequately for success in adverse conditions.

Sadie Smith shared her experience at the Disney marathon, highlighting her unique ability to lead the first leg and her trademark creative expletives during the race. Despite facing challenges, including high humidity, she finished with a commendable 3rd place overall, as Disney only awards the top three finishers. The event was both enjoyable and tough, showcasing a positive atmosphere amongst runners and staff. Sadie is now looking forward to celebrating with food and drinks after the intense race.
Dam-to-Bridge Domination: Redding Marathon Feels Right
Gysel Parajon reflects on running the Redding Marathon after missing it the previous year due to an injury. Excited to finally tackle the course, she felt energized and elated while running alongside other participants. Despite experiencing discomfort in her glutes and hamstrings around mile 15, she realized her improvement in running as walking caused more pain.
