Cowtown Challenge Conquered
Gregory Rouson recently completed his 260th lifetime half marathon at the Cowtown Challenge, which included a 10K and a half marathon. Expressing his excitement, he noted the impressive hills and finisher medals in Texas. Rouson had long wanted to participate in this event due to the city’s rich history, particularly the Stock Yards, and he was pleased with the experience. Cowtown Marathon 2026 Race Report – Back-of-the-Pack Edition
Brian Johnson participated in the Cowtown Marathon in Fort Worth, Texas, marking his 64th marathon and 33rd state. He enjoyed the generous 7.5-hour cutoff as a back-of-the-pack runner. Arriving in Dallas, he experienced the expo and the vibrant atmosphere of race day, featuring entertaining sights and a commemorative mile for fallen service members. However, a wrong turn at mile 23 cost him 10 minutes, creating frustration. Despite this, he finished strong and appreciated the unique cowboy hat-shaped medal. He encourages others to try this Texas race.
Hagg Mud 50K: One of the Muddiest Ever
Steve Walters shares his experience at the 13th Hagg Mud 50k, noting it was one of the muddiest races he has attended. He encountered challenging sections of sucking mud, particularly on the second loop. Adjusting his expectations, he took a slow and careful pace due to his limited recent trail running and a lack of confidence. Palm Desert Half #216: Perfect Day, Great Company, Consecutive Bibs!
Lea Reyes completed her 216th half marathon in Palm Desert, a race she had never participated in before, encouraged by Karen A Flynn. The event was affordable and provided a nice getaway. After driving in the previous night, Lea enjoyed perfect running weather and a wide course that minimized contact with other runners. She ran with Karen almost the entire time, except for brief stops. The race concluded with cheers from the crowd. Next, she plans to participate in the Yeti marathon in Springfield, MO.
300th Half Complete at Brazen Racing’s Bay Breeze Half
Barbara Rausch celebrated her remarkable achievement of completing her 300th half marathon at Brazen Racing’s Bay Breeze, nearly ten years after her first race there. Initially aiming just to finish, she later joined Brazen’s Ultra Half Series and became a member of Half Fanatics, reaching several milestones along the way. The support and friendships she found through running transformed her life, particularly following a life-saving gastric bypass in 2010, which helped her maintain weight loss.
