Sam Friedman, after completing 11 marathons, aimed to run in all 50 states to avoid training. However, a knee injury and heat exhaustion challenged him during various races. After recovery, he managed about 35 marathons yearly. He completed his goal at the 2017 Route 66 Marathon, feeling triumphant and aiming for a second round.
