Palm Desert Half #216: Perfect Day, Great Company, Consecutive Bibs!
Lea Reyes completed her 216th half marathon in Palm Desert, a race she had never participated in before, encouraged by Karen A Flynn. The event was affordable and provided a nice getaway. After driving in the previous night, Lea enjoyed perfect running weather and a wide course that minimized contact with other runners. She ran with Karen almost the entire time, except for brief stops. The race concluded with cheers from the crowd. Next, she plans to participate in the Yeti marathon in Springfield, MO.
300th Half Complete at Brazen Racing’s Bay Breeze Half
Barbara Rausch celebrated her remarkable achievement of completing her 300th half marathon at Brazen Racing’s Bay Breeze, nearly ten years after her first race there. Initially aiming just to finish, she later joined Brazen’s Ultra Half Series and became a member of Half Fanatics, reaching several milestones along the way. The support and friendships she found through running transformed her life, particularly following a life-saving gastric bypass in 2010, which helped her maintain weight loss. Rausch emphasizes the importance of health and movement for everyone.

Happy Half Fanatics Anniversary Sina!
Sina Sco (HF15870) celebrates her anniversary as a Half Fanatic, which began during Super Bowl Weekend 2017. That year, she completed the Rock & Roll New Orleans marathon and qualified for Neptune status in Miami before achieving Mars status. Additionally, she reflects on her weight loss journey, which started after relocating to Texas. She emphasizes her commitment to fitness since that pivotal moment. Sina shares a recent photo from the Hot Chocolate 10K and mentions plans to run the Mesa Half Marathon soon.
Mississippi River Marathon Recap– New Finish, Vintage Carousel & Delta Delights!
Jennifer Clark shares her experience at the annual Mississippi River Marathon in Greenville, Mississippi. This local race features a full marathon starting in Arkansas and a half marathon across the bridge, both finishing in Greenville. This year, the finish line was moved to the E.E. Bass Cultural Arts Center due to changes in the course configuration. Clark enjoyed the new location, which allowed for socializing and a unique ride on a historic Merry-Go-Round. Meet Club Member: Troy Hoffland
Troy Hoffland, who began running on April 9, 2024, transformed from a non-runner at 194 pounds to a passionate marathoner weighing 160 pounds. Inspired by a friend, he embraced running, aiming to compete in the historic Boston Marathon. After following a training plan and facing an injury, he secured a spot as a charity runner, raising over $15,400 for Fisher House. Troy has since participated in multiple marathons, achieving personal records and plans to run London in 2026, motivated and supported by a community of fellow runners.
Kicking Off 2026 Strong: State 47 Las Cruces Half Marathon
Sheri Fulton Camp completed her first race of the year at the State 47 Las Cruces Half Marathon, marking her 13th state in her third round and her 240th lifetime half marathon. The flat out-and-back course featured scenic views of pecan orchards and the Rio Grande River. Runners enjoyed a track finish, which was easier than gravel. After a weekend off, Sheri plans to participate in the RNR Arizona, which includes a 5k and a half marathon.
