The event was well-organized, providing ample aid stations with food and drinks, and support from over 100 volunteers and cyclists. Runners enjoyed features like water spraying chambers and ice baths at the finish line. Despite being in a small town, the marathon offered a positive atmosphere and scenic countryside running with minimal traffic. Pandian, now at 67, celebrated completing over 1,000 marathons.

DNF at Rattlesnake Dick 50k: Embracing the Struggle
Gysel Parajon shares her experience at the Rattlesnake Dick 50k trail race in Cool, CA. She aimed to push her limits beyond a marathon distance, attracting her to this local event with a generous 10-hour time limit. Although she started strong, the heat affected her pace, and fear of encountered rattlesnakes led her to slow down. Ultimately, she missed the first cutoff by four minutes. Despite not finishing, Gysel enjoyed meeting fellow runners and volunteers, and plans to return next year.

Jolanta Thorburn participated in the City of Colleges Half Marathon in Conway, Arkansas, marking her 76th lifetime half marathon. The event featured a scenic route, good organization, and a fun toga theme. Following the race, she planned to return home to care for her dog recovering from surgery. Missouri is her next destination.
