Pacing at the Carlsbad Half

Natalie Uyeno(MM15186, HF17314, DA3505)– Lifetime half marathon #240 is in the books! ✅ The In Motion Events Carlsbad Half was my 2nd lifetime half back in 2018. I was so impressed with the spectator support and course support that I fell in love with the city of Carlsbad and this race! ❤️
Who would’ve thought that 5 years later I would be pacing this race? Huge thanks to Carrie & Paul Miller at OnPace Race for allowing me this opportunity to pace my favorite San Diego area race! 😊 I was the 3:15 pacer for the half. I started with a few people, but they didn’t stick with me long. They all got ahead of me and I never saw them again. I ended up running alone for the majority of the race until around Mile 9 or 10. I struck up a conversation with a woman whom I kept leap frogging with while I was doing intervals. Turns out she was a member of the West Coast Road Runners group and we have a mutual friend. She was injured, so she was taking it easy and was walking a lot.
Her name was Joyce and she was really nice! We ended up finishing the race together and having a great time chatting those last few miles! It made the miles go faster and the last few hills a lot easier! We had a blast and she thanked me & hugged me for helping her get through those last few miles when we finished! 😊 This is why I love pacing so much! ❤️ It brings me so much joy to help runners achieve their goals while exercising and enjoying nature! 🌊🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️🏅 Congrats to everyone who finished today! 🎉
Praise the Lord for beautiful overcast running weather (but NO RAIN! 🚫☔️) We really lucked out after it was pouring like crazy on Saturday! ❤️🙏 Thank you for helping me hit my goal time (official finish time was 3:14:31)! Yay! 🥳
