Setting a 48-Hour World Record

Congratulations to Jeff Hagen (MM352)

From Jeff: I just set a World Record for 48-hour runners age 75-79.

Ran in the World Championship 48-Hour Race in Hainesport, NJ, over Labor Day Weekend. Conditions were brutal, with temp in the 90s, high humidity, and heat index of 96 degrees both days.

By running conservatively in the heat of the day and pushing hard at night I was able to finish in 6th place overall, 4th male overall, and 3rd American overall with 166.96 miles in a field of 47 runners.

That eclipsed the previous World Record of 161 miles for age 75+. I have attached a photo of me at the 100-mile point with my Maniacs singlet and one at the end of the race after changing into a warmer shirt.
