Utah Valley Marathon — Julianna Hays — HF12427

The Utah Valley Half Marathon distance started up in the canyon early morning with spectacular views of the river and mountains.

It’s a fast downhill half marathon with a few good uphill stints before getting back into the valley and civilization around mile 8.

A few good small rolling hills on your way back into the city, then mostly flat past BYU to the finish line.

Around mile 8 and thru the finish of the race, the streets are lined with great support from local spectators yelling out their support for every runner on the course, even by name (if printed on your bib)!

One of the best “hydration” assistants on the race course was an otter pop at mile 10!

Nuun and water lined the rest of the hydration stops along the way, along with gels, bananas and oranges.

Overall, despite the heat and 30 degree change in temperature from the beginning to the end, I’d definitely travel back to Utah for this race again!

Yes, they have a full marathon, half marathon, and 10k. Also, if you’re challenged enough, the night before they have a 5k and you can earn the triple medal challenge!
