Overcoming the Elements at the Moebius Green Monster Trail Race

Race report:

Yesterday I slayed the Moebius – Green Monster Trail 50k race in Aurora ,Ohio. ! It took a lot to get this race finished. Thanks to Mother Nature’s bad mood the last week, where she dumped many inches of rain during the week, she added a twist of tornados to NE Ohio Thursday night. This resulted in extremely muddy trails and multiple down trees, which you had to climb over, and many water crossing which one went up to my knees. This was in addition to the multiple hills, oh holy hills! Just think I had to do this 5 times. It was a 10k loop.
For the first time I actually took time to change socks 3 times, took my time at the aid station to eat and drink.
As I crossed the finish line I began to cry with happiness that I finished this race. I was ready to throw in the towel 1/2 way through the 3rd loop. This is my first technical trail race of 50k distance. This tops my marathon technical trail race at Burning River last month. The race director came up to me to give me my cool finisher medal and said to me, you lied, you said it would take you minimum of 10 hours to finish the race. Well total time with bathroom breaks, aid station stops, and additional stop on the last loop of the course to add another pair of socks for cushion, I came in at 9:47:10.
Peter was amazing! He helped with refilling water bottles, fed me, went to the store to buy me socks and more Pringles. He also experienced some of the trail conditions with me as he hiked/ran about 4 miles of the last loop. I can’t thank him enough for being there for me a my crew yesterday!
I have never came home from a race and not posted on Facebook right away, I was so exhausted I took a hot bath with epson salts, iced my knee and went to bed. I have not tried steps yet, but I am walking this morning with a limp, and many sore muscles, but well earned!
