Running Through Churchill Downs at the Kentucky Derby Festival

You do run through Churchill Downs 🐎 , but it’s fenced to where you feel like you don’t really experience it, but I guess it was still pretty cool!
I’m pretty sure this is THE ABSOLUTE most I’ve seen a heavy police 👮 presence everywhere!! Standing on what felt like every corner, on bikes and 🚓 lined the entire course! It was wayyyy more than even Boston or any of the other Majors it felt like!
Is that because it’s Derby week!!? IDK
For the most part this was a flat course as advertised.
Definitely a good back-of-the-pack friendly course.
Weather was good, maybe even a lil warm.
This finishers “village” was pretty sparse, but I got beer 🍺, bourbon shots 🥃, beef jerky sticks (all the flavors) and I was set to walk back to hotel.
𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐞: I wish I had longer to stay to enjoy more Derby festivities, but I did do a Derby 🐎 Brunch before my departure to Brooklyn, NY
𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄: make sure you purchase the Pegasus pin during registration! It’s a great souvenir and it acts as free entry to some of the Derby Festival events.
