𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲: there were 5 Waves that had over a 2hr start gap!!! Insane
Plus there’s a lot of security screenings going into your corrals.
I ended up starting in wave 4 @ 9:00AM, with approval from wave 5, since my finish time would exceed 2:45!
𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄:
This was definitely 𝐍𝐎𝐓 a back-of-the-pack friendly race!!
Out of 28,000 runners only approximately 1500 were behind me at the finish! 🥴Lol 🤣
And this was with me moving up a wave!
Imagine had I started @9:40AM with the last wave? 😱 I may have been close to DAL had I actually started in the last wave where they originally had me (Wave 5)
Overall great race though.
As for the weather and course itself, it was cold 🥶 42° (38° wind chill) and definitely had rolling hills! With so many runners, it felt like bumper to bumper the entire race.
The nice part is that “you finish in Prospect Park”!
The Cherry Blossom 🌸 Trees 🌳 were SPECTACULAR… plus I walked into a shower of peddles blowing in the air with the wind ☺️
What I DIDN’t like is “you finished in Prospect Park”, and had to walk over a mile uphill to exit though! Lol 🤣
Back2Back Half weekend attempt COMPLETE!!! 🏁
This finishers “village” was pretty sparse as well. I walked out with a bagel and apple 🍎 🤷🏽‍♀️
Ate both before exiting the park along the mile long walk UPHILL 😋
𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐞: I JOINED a couple run cousins that waited for me at the finish and we went to Juniors for “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝’𝐬 🌍 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐅𝐚𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐤𝐞 🍰”
I spent the next day walking the High Line and Little Island

Since I messed a broadway show I really wanted to see, I guess that means I need to come back soon.
