Amy Seagroves ( HF18410, DA3652, MM15648) – Today I completed Half #156 Upstate Classic Half in NY located outside Albany. It is produced by AREEP, I have done a few events with them and they are always well done. The race starts at a fairground and then is a loop through the countryside. It is a scenic race with forest and farm views. There were not a ton of spectators given it is a more rural event but there were some chickens cheering us on. It was overall very well produced. My only real complaint is there was only 4 aid stations and they just had water but this was in the race guide so I brought a handheld water bottle and some honey stinger. Another thing I like is it has a cheap entry fee for just the race and medal and you can pay extra for the race shirt making this an affordable half marathon especially if you have hundreds of race shirts so don’t need any more. There were also boxed lunch at the end with vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. Overall this is a very nice event. I’ve done a lot of races in NY state and this is not the most iconic NY Half Marathon but if it works with your schedule it’s a nice option.
