Marathoning in Mesa

Karen Flynn (MM4024, DA158, HF1043)

MedalMonday #MotivationMonday from my 66th lifetime marathon at the Mesa Marathon (AZ)! Not really having my marathon mojo up to snuff since the pandemic kind of put a damper on my momentum, my race went better than expected. My goal for the race was to put in my best effort but I had no big expectations since this was my first of many more races this year so I figured I had plenty of other races to improve myself and/or to get my Boston Qualifier for next year. My long runs in my training up to this race have seemed tougher than usual so being able to overcome that mental obstacle up to & during this race then end up actually feeling better than I have in a race in a long time while also pulling off BQ #16 was the culmination of a really amazing race weekend! In all of my years as a runner I have learned that you just never know what race day will bring. If you put in the necessary work then anything is possible! Thanks to my Hyland’s Powered teammates for also making this an unforgettable race experience! Stay tuned for more race pictures soon!
