Racing in Europe

Jolanta Thorburn (HF18464) recently completed two races in Europe. Here are her race reports.

Silesia Half in Katowice, Poland.

October 3rd, 2021 Half Marathon #12 was extra special to me. Silesia Half in Katowice, Poland. I grew up not too far from Stadium Ślaski – the finish line. The energy was amazing, very well organized event, awesome medal! Very proud of myself! Adding Europe to my continents count 2/7 🌍💃Lisbon, Portugal on 10/17 is next before I return home to Seattle.

Lisbon, Portugal

Lifetime Half no. 13 (11th Road HM)
Lisbon, Portugal. Country no. 3
This was my second half while traveling in Europe
(I ran a half in Katowice, Poland 2 weeks ago)
The race started half way on the Vasco da Gama bridge – the longest bridge in the EU (7.6 miles). It was foggy, and overcast which made it for the perfect running weather. I wasn’t going for a PR today, just wanted to have fun and enjoy the sights with this one 🤘🏻☺️
I loved running through the historic old town Lisbon even though the last 2ish miles were on cobblestone street which was a real ankle basher, but running through The Rua Augusta Arch as a finish made out for it. 😎
As always, BIG thank you to my hubby 🥰 for all the support and pictures at the finish line. It was also amazing to have ALL of the Thorburn gang in Lisbon with me today to share couple of celebratory drinks at Time Out Market Lisboa – an indoor market with an amazing food – I highly recommend it 👍🏻
