Alexis Davidson(MM926) – I celebrated der achtzigste geburtstag des orange Fuhrer by walking the Midnight Marathon, which was part of the Sri Chinmoy 24HR/12HR/M/HM event. This was my 1st June Sri Chinmoy marathon, but my 6th Rockland Lake marathon. 73-66F with no wind, 59F dewpoints and high allergy count. Almost nine 2.95M loops around the lake. Gun time only with loops counted by volunteers and timing mats. Strava says 70 ft elevation gain, so very flat. No mile markers, so I lived off the GPS.
I wore a headlamp because I was worried about tripping on any uneven surfaces. There were few, as the run/bike path is still very new. I went out slowly, too. I woke up at 7am, and I was pretty sleepy by racetime. I was afraid I would fall asleep during the first short loop. My loops were very consistent for the first 7: 39:10-39:50. Once the dawn occurred during the 8th loop, I sped up. My last 2 loops were my fastest. Interpolated half times of 2:54:20 and 2:52:38. A 102 second negative split. Sub 5:47 finish. Found out the Knicks won after I stopped. Go Knicks!! 😀. I believe Dan Oh and Al Emma were there, but they left before I arrived. #marathonmaniacs.
