Amy Seagroves (HF18410, DA3652, MM15648) – Went back to Florida this weekend for a couple more Half Marathons. Saturday I completed Half #114 Ave Maria Half located near Naples. I was originally planning to do the Everglades Half but when it got canceled I didn’t feel like changing my travel plans so did the next closest race instead which was this one. This was a smaller race with 70-80 participants in the half which is a bit small for me. But it was well produced for a smaller race and very flat. Swag was okay. Even though it was not the Everglades Half I still got to see a gator during the race. Overall I’d prefer a bigger race but if you like races with under 100 runners it was a nice race.
Sunday I completed Half #115 Publix Florida Half in Melbourne. I’ve done this race a couple times before. It has beautiful waterfront views. It is a nice sized race with a few hundred participants. It’s flat except 2 bridges. The medal is always really nice. The downside is the weather. Today was probably the nicest weather I’ve had for this race and it was still super hot and humid. You also have to pay extra for a race T-shirt. I’d recommend this one if you like mid-sized races and lots of views of water. Both races also had double loop marathons so were very back of the pack/walker friendly.
