Merry Mullins-(MM15936) Good Monday Morning Kansas City. I have returned to the icebox in the Midwest with a little extra hardware from Baton Rouge Louisiana. I ran 2 races this past weekend and to hear the local folk talk, it was tough to get out of bed with the low temps they experienced. The low was 32 and high 75. 😂🙄.
This Midwest girl called that perfect conditions to run a very fast 3.1 miles and snag a 2nd place medal for age group . I was 16th out of all woman and 87th out of entire race 891. time was 26:15.
Yesterday I didn’t win an extra medal for placing; however, I did win a cool medal because I ran 2 races. I placed 12th in my age group with a time of 4:43:48. I’m not too disappointed in that time considering the locals tried to sabotage us out of town runners from mile 17-21. So many snacks and drinks to try. I may or many not of been as disciplined as I should have been.
Highlights of the weekend, I got to meet up with my running friend Cynthia who I met in Nashville last year. She talked me into trying both Jambalaya and Gumbo. I liked them a lot. I ate some amazing grilled oysters at the Acme Oyster House. And my hometown Kansas City Chiefs won.
Now up and at it early to start this week and just move through it. Cold as ice!!!!
