Randy Riley (MM14470, DA3218, HF16432) – The Parkway Subaru Battleship NC Half Marathon. This one’s been on my list for years. Parkway Subaru went out of their way to help us when our Outback broke down in 22 by lending us a new car for 9 days. The race starts downtown right across the water from the Battleship NC. It’s a WWII ship that is open to tour. Quite a storied history. Can’t imagine what those sailors experienced.
I was expecting better weather in Wilmington than a 50F constant rain with 12-15 mph winds. Weather never overshadows meeting up with friends and they were a ray of sunshine on a dreary day. Neill Sevelius just celebrated 20 years as a Marine. Congratulations! Kelly Milam drove in from Tennessee for the race. It’s been 20 months since we ran together. Josie Messoria Sevelius ran my 200th (and 201) half marathon with me. Great to see these 3 who are always fun to be around.
I did get a 2nd AG. The running belt is the award. I don’t recall when a bib pick
up had so much free stuff. I left with two bags full. Donna and I each scored Bluetooth speakers. Half Fanatics 100 Half Marathons Club #medalmonday.
